The holidays are here—and with it comes an excellent opportunity to show the insurance agents and companies you work with how much you appreciate the contribution they have made to your business over the past year. Here are a few ideas for reaching out to the people you work with over the holidays—and make a great impression.
Send personalized holiday cards. Everyone can send standardized cards over the holidays—but in a time when setting up automated card delivery is easy, the personalized touch stands out. Write a hand-written note in cards to the people you work with the most, mentioning something unique to that person—a specific contribution they made to your business or coverage you worked on, for example.
Bear in mind that not everyone shares the same holiday traditions—so keeping it non-denominational is best.
Send gifts. Gift baskets, fine wine, gift cards, and other presents—small and large—can make a big impact in expressing your appreciation to your most important business partners. Ideally, you should know a little bit about this person’s tastes and interests, and take the time to demonstrate that with your gift. However, even if you don’t, a general gift basket full of healthy snacks or a gift card can be a very appreciated gift.
Match donations. The holiday spirit is a great time to bring philanthropy into your business. Choose one or several charities to sponsor over the season, and offer to match a percentage of your business partners’ donations to the charity of their choice. If you know that one of your most important partners already has a charitable program and prioritizes it, this is a great way to show your support.
If you do decide to choose to sponsor a charity, choose a non-controversial one that is appealing to everyone, regardless of religious or political affiliation.
Throw a party. Holiday parties can be a great way to show your appreciation. Your party can come in the form of a luncheon or dinner, a fancy evening affair, a daytime get-together, or anything in between—depending on your budget and the size of the crowd you plan to invite. It can be a great time to share good food and drink while you get to know your business partners in a more casual setting.
Celebrating with your business partners over the holidays can be a great opportunity to show your appreciation—and connect with them on a more personal level. With these ideas, you can strengthen your bonds with the people you do business with—and end the year on a very positive note.
