If you do some research you will find that virtual tradeshows have been around for awhile but I would guess that the technology is improving as each day passes. The concept is growing in popularity and I have decided to be the pioneer, so to speak, and bring a virtual event to retail insurance producers throughout the United States. Years of marketing in the insurance industry keeps my mind thinking of new solutions for my clients, so here we are!
Do you attend tradeshows and if so, what benefit do you get? If not, why?

Having attended many insurance tradeshows over the years as both an agent and vendor, I believe that the active exchange of ideas is the principal benefit to a show. And of course it is great to catch up with old friends – a great source of those ideas.
Sometimes you go in with a clear purpose: learn about this new productivity tool, give the carrier rep an earful, or in the case of a vendor, get the word out about our fantastic new XYZ. Other times you go with a less formal agenda.
If I come away from a show with new contacts, reconnected to old friends, and one or two great ideas that can impact my business it has been a success.
I wish you success with your virtual tradeshow!

Marty,
Thanks for your feedback. Interaction is absolutely the key to success in attending a tradeshow. The vendors in our show will have to ensure they prompt that interaction. I find there are booths in a physical show that have people standing in them waiting to be spoken to and many people walk right by. Since standing in a booth waiting to be spoken to is not an option in a virtual environment, perhaps it will force all of us to work harder to truly “connect” with people as we should be doing anyway. As a plus, we can connect with agencies and personnel who don’t normally attend physical shows.
I have gone to other trade shows over the years but attendance and market coverage has dwindled recently. The Virtual Insurance Marketplace is a brilliant idea and I will be attending. I have know Anita Nevins for several years and if she is heading this up, it will be a MAJOR success. It gives many of us busy agents the ability to take advantage of all the things at a normal trady show without leaving our desk. Thanks Anita!
